One of the wealthiest business tycoon Sanjay Singhania (Owner of Singhania group of Industries) who was a very nice businessman and fell in love with a beautiful girl Kalpana who was an ad film actress. His life is ruined by a man called Ghajini who killed his love and also damaged his brain and two years later he is suffering from a mental disease called short-term memory lost he is living his life by writing notes, clicking pictures and sketching tattoos on his body just to take avenge from the man ghajini.
Medical student, Sunita, is driven by curiosity to study the case of Sanjay Singhania, who is afflicted with short-term memory loss. She runs into him, befriends him, and finds out that he is out to kill a seemingly benevolent citizen, Ghajini Dharmatma. After warning the latter of the impending danger, she subsequently comes across a number of diaries written by Sanjay and attempts to put together a jigsaw puzzle as to how a successful and wealthy businessman became a crazed recluse, who re-lives his past through tattoos on his body, notes and Polaroid photographs on the wall of his Hiranandani Complex flat, and his sole obsession of carrying out his deadly mission - little knowing that Ghajini and his goons are out to erase every bit of evidence he has gathered and thus ensure that he ends up remembering nothing.
I am a big fan of Aamir Khan and his detail oriented approach towards every project he undertakes. It's with this expectation I went to see the movie. For the most part it matched my expectations. However, there were a couple of aspects in the movie which disappointed me. This is a revenge motivated movie, so action plays a very important role. Here's where the quality drops. The main villain was wrong for the part, he's been playing henchman for so long, you just can't upgrade him to the main villain's role in such a big budget movie. Second, he is such a big don in the crime world but not one of his men carries a gun. Do you buy this?; especially in the day and age where every foot soldier in a crime syndicate carries an automatic/AK47, just to gain respect. All these guys have, are broken metal pipes. Come to think if there was a gang war these guys wouldn't last a day. Aamir Khan's 8 pack abs was impressive but his fighting style and ability left much to be desired. His fighting style reminded you of "Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander". One would expect with age and experience this perfectionist would have perfected the art of hand to hand combat. The plot, acting is still quite good but as far as action goes, the word "limited" comes to mind.
k lets see what can be said about the movie…….First of all don't compare it with Memento as Ghajini is not its remake or sumthin'. Only the concept of short term memory loss has been taken from that movie. Actually I was reading someone's comment where I came to know that they are taking it as its remake……but it is not…..Of course its a remake of that Tamil muvi by the same name and same director…………The acting of the major actors is OK but of that police inspector is very bad…very very bad The screenplay is okay…cinematography, I don't know but I was not as such atttracted by it anywhere in the movie ….. Action is nice let it be that fight scene of that inspector and Sanjay or the last he-man scene (South Indian movie touch)……..I want to say that the scene in which Kalpana is hiding behind that door is too good and I think the director has maintained the thrill for about 5 minutes……….All in all this muvi has got a really cute love story and a character, Kalpana, who is pampered all through the movie and u'll generate a kind of attachment to that character and at the end she is killed brutally which is very annoying as it breaches the extent of "mood jump" in a movie………..For the end of the movie, I want to say that the viewer is expecting that kind of action as they are also feeling a kind of revenge against that brutal killing…..Must watch but only once as for me, I cant handle that "mood jump"(cute love story to extreme violence).
